Jim Corbett National Park Animals

Corbett national park is world renowned wildlife sanctuary and oldest park in India. Jim Corbett national park was founded in 1936 and previously known as Hailey National park with an area of 323.75 sq.km. Later on 197.07 sq.km. area was added to the park. Right now, the present area is 1318.65 sq.km. which includes the core buffer area. Jim Corbett is famous for tiger conservation and other wild animals

The Flora in Corbett National Park

Jim Corbett National Park is know for its flora which consist of Sal Trees, chaurs and khair-sissoo forests. There are more than 600 species of shrubs, bamboos, trees, herbs,grasses, ferns and climbers have been identified in the Park.Different varieties of Bamboo trees are prominent and can be found in various parts of the park. Tiger Grass,Baib or Bhabar,Khus Khus and Kansi are one of the 70 plant species that can be found in the form of grasses.

Animals Found in Jim Corbett National Park

There are around 160 tigers and 600 bird species in Jim Corbett which attracts large number of enthusiasts to visit the park. Jim Corbett national park is considered to be the best place to spot the tigers and for bird-watching. One can find elephants,dear,chital, sambar etc easily inside the park. It's a perfect place for bird watching as park is known for different species of bird. People travel from around the world visit jim corbett national park for bird watching and to track tigers.

Mammals

Apart from tigers, most frequent sighted mammals are deer and Asian elephants. There are around 700 Asian elephants in the park. Four different types of deer chital, Para or Hog deer, Sambar andbarking deer can be found frequently in the park. Leopards can be easily located in the low land jungles and hilly areas. Other mammals like Indian Python, crocodiles, Himalayan Black bears, rhesus monkeys and langur could also be seen in the Corbett park.

Bird Watching

Jim Corbett national park is the ideal place for bird watcher's and nature enthusiasts. It's is known as the best national park and richest bird region for bird watching and bird safari as there are more than 600 species of birds available in this park. Jim Corbett has a long tradition of conservation and rich culture. One can find rarely and endangered birds find elsewhere in India. Birds can be identified by their calls as it is the best mode to distinguish them. The numerous water bodies provide an ideal habitat for ducks and waders, most of which are migratory. The park forms a natural crossroad and meeting ground for avian species from high altitude areas, plains and eastern and western regions. Because of this unique location, the bird population is pretty high throughout the year, with winter visitors, summer visitors, altitude migrants, passage migrants and local migrants.
