Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India known for the tiger conservation. Located in Nainital district Uttarakhand at the foothills of Himalayas, Corbett national park is world renowned wildlife sanctuary and oldest park in India. Jim Corbett national park was founded in 1936 and previously known as Hailey National park with an area of 323.75 sq.km. Later on 197.07 sq.km. area was added to the park. Right now, the present area is 1318.65 sq.km. which includes the core buffer area. Jim Corbett is famous for tiger conservation and other wild animals. There are around 160 tigers and 600 bird species in jim Corbett which attracts large number of enthusiasts to visit the park. Jim Corbett national park is considered to be the best place to spot the tigers and for bird-watching. One can find elephants,dear,chital, sambar etc easily inside the park. Dhikala is the core buffer area of jim corbett national park,located on the edge of the broad Patli Dun valley from where river Ramganga flows.One of the most famous zone for wildlife safari in corbett where visitors can hire jeep safari, elephant safari, canter safari to view and explore the wildlife and nature in Corbett.Dhangri gate is the entrance gate to enter the dhikala zone which is 19 kms from the city Ramnagar.Dhikala zone is closed during the monsoon season for the safari.It is opened from 15th November till 15th June.30kms from the dangri gate, there is a forest guesthouse which is run by the forest department.Visitors can book guesthouse online.
Birjari Safari Zone is the core buffer area of Jim Corbett National Park.Amadanda gate is the entry gate for the Bijrani safari zone which is 1 Km from city Ramnagar and one has to cross 5 km to enter the buffer zone to reach bijrani.Visitors can enter the zone through Amadanda gate by taking the permit issued from the Corbett tiger reserve.Amadanda gate is open from the 15th October to 30th June. During monsoon it is closed because of the poor roads in the forest.n Bijrani zone, only 30 vehicles are allowed to travel in morning and evening hours. So visitors require to book morning safari in advance and evening safari is based on first come first basis. One can hire Gypsy safari and elephant safari . In gypsy, maximum six persons can be accommodated in a single gypsy. In gypsy safari one driver and guide will accompany the visitors for whole the Safari.One can also opt for Elephant safari but that has to be pre-booked and only four persons can accommodated in the elephant safari at single time.
Durga Devi Safari zone is located on the north-eastern boundary of the jim corbett national park.It is the untouched territory of the park and one can explore the zone via elephant safari and jeep safari. But to explore the durga Devi zone, elephant safari is considered to be the best option. The entrance gate is located just few kilometres away from some good known resorts. Besides wildlife, one has a easy access to the banks of Ramganga river which is the best place to enjoy fishing and angling. Mahseer fish is common in the river waters. During stay in this fantastic zone, you get once-in-life opportunity to go for angling facilities at the Ramganga camp at bhikiasen crossing the gate.Durga Devi Zone is closed during 30th June till 30th October every year due to the monsoon season as road gets washed away during the monsoon season.
Jhirna Safari zone is opened round the year for wildlife safari. Situated in Jim Corbett national park, Jhirna zone is 16 km from Ramnagar. Visitors need the permit issued by Corbett Tiger Reserve before entering the Jhirna zone for safari.Jhirna has a forest lodge, `16 kms from Ramnagar located in southern boundary of the Jim Corbett National Park. Forest lodge has 2 rooms and visitors can stay here for a night and go for an gypsy safari or elephant safari in the morning and evening.
Visitors can do the online booking for wildlife safari. While doing online booking, you have to select the zone from where you want to start your safari.
Dhikala and Bijrani are the best safari zone in Jim Corbett for wildlife safari.Both the zone are the core buffer area of Jim Corbett National Park.
There are mainly four entry gates for Jeep,Canter and Elephant wildlife safari in Corbett national park: Dhela,Amadanda gate,Dhangri gate,Durga Devi Gate.Visitors can opt for Morning and evening safari.In one jeep,maximum 6 people can be accommodated and it is advised to book your safari in advance. It's advised to book your safari at least 6 days before reaching the park.It's compulsory to take a guide along with you during safari.

The best time to visit jim Corbett national Park is from 15th November till end March as complete area of the park including the buffer core area like Dhikala zone and Durgadevi zone is open for tourists.
