Chapora beach of Goa is a small fishing village located at a distance of 10 kilometers from Mapusa in north of Goa.You can see fishermen going to the seas and returning with fishes.

Here swimming is not advisable at chapora beach as undercurrents are strong.There are a number of restaurants and beach cafes near the Chapora beach that serve some tasty seafood and drinks.The best time to visit this place is from November To March.

Major attraction at the Chapora beach is the magnificent Chapora fort that was built many years ago during the Portugal rule. The fort is now unmaintained and provides a mystical and dramatic look to the Chapora beach. The fort oozes out Old Portuguese Styles and types of Architecture. From top of the fort, you can see the Hills and the Arabian sea. The best nearby attraction to this place is Vagator Beach and Anjuna Beach.

Although there are several guest houses and hotels near the Chapora Beach, where one can stay but anjuna and calangute are much better option to stay.

How to Reach Chapora Beach

Chapora beach is located in North Goa, 24 Kms from Panaji capital of goa and 10 Kms from Mapusa city. Frequent and regular buses are available from Panaji to chapora. You can also get taxi and motorbikes on rent from Panaji to Chapora.

Chapora Fort

Chapora Fort is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Goa. It is located on the Anjuna beach, 10 Kms from Mapusa at Bardez - Goa on the southern headland of the Chapora River. Fort was built in 1717 by Goa's Viceroy to protect Bardez from the Bhonsales of Sawantwadi and Marathas. The fort was built to guard the entrance to the Chapora River and as a border watchpost from the Bhonsales of Sawantwadi and Marathas. In 1892, Portuguese finally deserted the fort after the territory's frontiers had been forced further north and the Novas Conquistas region.
